For the past two decades, at various organizations, I’ve been responsible for shaping the creative strategy, tone and content for some of the most visible (and a few not-so visible) brands in the world, across various media. As a hands-on copywriting and art directing Creative Director, I’ve developed award-winning work for brands such as 2K Games, 2K Sports, MTV, Nivea, Sony, W Hotels, Korg, Marshall, Tim Horton’s, Traveler’s, and more.

Working within CDM's HealthWork consumer broadcast division, my team and I developed a number of award-nominated :30s for Allergan's Vraylar brand, a drug for bipolar depression. Directed by Michael Haussman of Pulse Films with incredible 3D CGI by The Mill, we brought an accurate portrayal of mixed episode bipolar depression to the screen like never before.

Bipolar depression, particularly the mixed episode variety, is a complex thing to portray accurately. In "Nighttime Gardening", a broadcast :30 for Vraylar, my team and I created the most precise depiction of the disease state to date, using the visual metaphor of a teetering card tower to communicate the often unsteady diagnosis and treatment journey for many patients.

I worked directly with film director Marcel Langenegger to adapt a concept originally conceived by TBWA/Zurich for a Sunrise Telecom spot starring tennis great Roger Federer. Among the many script adaptations was my addition of an unruly parrot that becomes Federer’s humorous foil. The campaign became a major hit in Switzerland (Federer’s home country) with the Parrot eventually finding further fame with its own Twitter account.

Having helped to successfully pitch MTV Games’ Rock Band account away from the incumbent agency, I performed three ad agency roles simultaneously, acting as Creative Director, Senior Art Director and Senior Copywriter on the account. The game and advertising campaign were so popular, Rock Band achieved sales of over a billion dollars within a year of launch, eventually topping out at more than $1.2 billion.

With Rock Band fast becoming a major hit for MTV Games and Harmonix, this critical “what will they do for an encore?” campaign launch for Rock Band 2 was instrumental (pun intended) in establishing the Rock Band series as a genuine pop cultural phenomena.

With bona fide campaign hits for both Rock Band 1 and the mega-launch of Rock Band 2 in the books, I was ecstatic to move on to the launch of The Beatles: Rock Band, working hand-in-hand with MTV Games and Apple Corps (The Beatles own multimedia corporation). The celebrated broadcast launch commercial gained millions more views on YouTube as it rocketed to a #4 peak position among all YouTube videos for a week.
